IDF Conducts Major Overnight Airstrikes on Tehran Airports
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has released dramatic footage showing fighter jets taking off for a substantial overnight airstrike operation targeting multiple airports and airfields in Tehran. This aggressive military action was described by the IDF as a "large-scale overnight airstrike" specifically aimed at degrading Iran's air assets and related military infrastructure.
Targeted Strikes on Key Aviation Hubs
In an official post on the social media platform X, the IDF detailed the scope of the operation, stating: "STRUCK: Numerous aerial assets, including aircraft and helicopters, as well as additional military infrastructure at three airports across Tehran — Bahram, Mehrabad and Azmayesh." The military emphasized that Mehrabad Airport held particular strategic importance, as it was utilized by the IRGC's Quds Force and functioned as a central hub for arming and financing the regime's terrorist proxies throughout the Middle East region.
The released video provided visual confirmation of the fighter jets launching for this mission. According to the IDF, the entire operation was meticulously planned and executed under the direct guidance of the IDF's Military Intelligence and the Intelligence Directorate, ensuring precision targeting.
Operation Roaring Lion and Deepening Damage
The IDF further revealed that Mehrabad Airport has been struck "multiple times" during the ongoing military campaign against Iran, codenamed Operation Roaring Lion. In a significant geopolitical note, Israel's key ally, the United States, which participated in strikes against the Islamic Republic on February 28—actions that helped trigger the broader Middle East conflict—refers to this campaign as Operation Epic Fury.
Characterizing the strikes as a major strategic blow, the Israeli military asserted, "The completed strikes further deepen the damage to the air capabilities of the Iranian terrorist regime," highlighting the operation's objective to cripple Iran's aerial military potential.
Netanyahu's Stern Warning to Adversaries
Concurrently, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a forceful warning to the nation's "adversaries" following the IDF's announcement that it had eliminated Major General Majid Khademi, the head of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organisation. A senior commander from the elite Quds Force's Unit 840 was also reported killed in the strikes targeting Tehran.
In his own post on X, Netanyahu lauded the military's operations and cautioned of "severe consequences" for any entities seeking to harm Israel or its citizens. He explicitly warned against attempts to construct what he termed an Iranian "axis of evil."
"Whoever acts to murder our citizens, whoever directs terror against the State of Israel, whoever builds the Iranian axis of evil — their blood is on their head. We are acting with strength and determination — we will reach everyone who seeks to harm us. We will continue with full force, on all fronts, until the threat is removed and all the war’s objectives are achieved," the Prime Minister declared, underscoring Israel's resolve.
This development marks a significant escalation in the ongoing regional tensions, with Israel taking direct action against Iranian military assets on Iranian soil and issuing stark warnings about future confrontations.
