A severe storm that struck Hazaribag on Monday evening brought life to a standstill, uprooting more than 100 trees across the town and its outskirts. The falling trees damaged power lines, plunging the area into a blackout that lasted for nearly 24 hours.

Restoration Efforts by JBVNL

Subroto Banerjee, the executive engineer of the JBVNL Hazaribag Division, stated that restoration work proved challenging in several locations. He mentioned that wiremen worked throughout the night with limited manpower to identify faults and clear tree branches entangled in power lines.

Impact on Water Supply

The prolonged power outage disrupted water supply on Tuesday, leaving residents struggling to access water since the morning. Households equipped with boring facilities were unable to fill their overhead tanks due to the lack of electricity.

Road Blockage on NH-522

A large tree fell in Pipcho village near Daru, blocking National Highway 522, which connects Hazaribag with Bagodar, Bishnugarh, Dhanbad, and Kolkata. The Daru police promptly arranged a crane to clear the road. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
