Towing operations will commence in Bengaluru's Jayanagar area next week as part of a new initiative to address unauthorised vehicle parking. The move aims to alleviate the significant inconvenience caused to motorists and pedestrians due to haphazard parking, according to K N Ramesh, Commissioner of the Bangalore Suburban City Co-operative Development Housing (BSCCDH).
Details of the Towing Initiative
The towing drive will target vehicles parked illegally on main roads, footpaths, and no-parking zones in Jayanagar. Ramesh stated that the initiative is a response to growing complaints from residents and commuters about blocked traffic and pedestrian pathways. The exact date for the start of operations has not been specified, but it is expected to begin early next week.
Authorities have warned that vehicles found violating parking rules will be towed away and owners will have to pay a fine to retrieve them. The towing fee and penalty structure will be in line with existing traffic regulations. The BSCCDH is coordinating with the Bengaluru Traffic Police to ensure smooth implementation.

Ramesh emphasised that the primary goal is to discipline parking behaviour rather than penalise vehicle owners. He urged the public to cooperate by using designated parking lots and following traffic rules.
