In a significant counter-terrorism operation, the Indian Army successfully neutralised two terrorists in the Keran area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district. The action was part of the ongoing Operation Pimple, which was initiated based on specific intelligence inputs about a potential infiltration attempt.
Operation Launched on Intelligence Input
The security forces sprang into action on November 7 after receiving crucial intelligence from various agencies. A joint operation was promptly launched in the sensitive Keran sector of Kupwara district to thwart the suspected infiltration bid. The Army's Chinar Corps, which commands the region, coordinated the entire anti-infiltration grid.
Confrontation and Elimination
During the surveillance, alert troops spotted suspicious movement and immediately challenged the suspects. This confrontation led to the terrorists opening indiscriminate fire toward the security personnel. The army effectively established contact and trapped the terrorists, leading to a fierce exchange of fire.
In an official update posted on social media platform X, the Chinar Corps stated, "Two terrorists have been neutralised by the security forces in the ongoing operation. Search of the area in progress." This development comes after their initial post which confirmed that contact had been established after the terrorists opened fire.
Ongoing Search Operations
Following the successful neutralisation of the two terrorists, search operations continue in the area to ensure no other threats remain. The security forces are maintaining high alert levels in the Kupwara sector, which has historically been vulnerable to infiltration attempts from across the Line of Control.
This operation demonstrates the continued vigilance of the Indian Army in protecting the nation's borders and maintaining security in the Jammu and Kashmir region. The successful mission has prevented a potential security threat and neutralised elements attempting to disrupt peace in the area.
