In a significant push towards promoting sustainable energy habits, the Trichy circle of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) officially launched an Energy Conservation Awareness Week on Monday. The initiative aims to educate consumers on the efficient and responsible use of electricity.
Chief Engineer Flags Off Awareness Drive
The programme was formally inaugurated by Geetha, Chief Engineer (Distribution) for the Trichy region. During the launch, she underscored the critical importance of energy conservation and the need for mindful power consumption among the public. The event saw active participation from officers, engineers, and staff of the Trichy electricity distribution circle.
EV Campaign and Public Outreach
A key highlight of the week was the flagging off of a special electric vehicle awareness campaign from the Tangedco Thennur regional office. This move aligns with broader efforts to promote clean transportation alongside efficient energy use.
To ensure the message reaches every corner, a dedicated awareness vehicle, adorned with messages on saving electricity, was deployed. It traversed through the urban and eastern divisions of the Trichy district, engaging directly with residents.
Distributing Practical Power-Saving Tips
The outreach effort included the distribution of informative pamphlets to the public. These pamphlets outlined simple, actionable measures that households and businesses can adopt to reduce their electricity consumption. The focus was on providing easy-to-follow steps for immediate implementation.
The week-long campaign represents Tangedco's proactive approach to not just manage supply but also to foster a culture of conservation among its consumers in Trichy.
