Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is set to inaugurate the 'Hariyalo Rajasthan Environment Conclave' at Hotel Marriott in Jaipur on Thursday. This significant event, organized by the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB), commemorates the completion of two years of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state.
Highlights of the Conclave Programme
The Chief Minister will formally open an exhibition focused on Rajasthan's green economy and will also unveil a poster for the 'My Life: Sustainable Lifestyle for Environment' campaign. The event will see the presence of key dignitaries including Law Minister Jogaram Patel and Forest and Environment Minister Sanjay Sharma, alongside other officials and stakeholders.
Major Environmental Initiatives Announced
In a series of announcements tied to the conclave, the RSPCB has rolled out several important measures. To ease compliance for industries, an auto-renewal facility has been introduced in the consent operation system. In a push for cleaner cities, Rs 13.5 crore has been allocated to the local self-government department for deploying water sprinklers and mechanical sweepers across 50 urban areas of Rajasthan.
Significant strides have been made in monitoring capabilities. The RSPCB's central laboratory and all 14 of its regional laboratories have now received prestigious NABL accreditation, ensuring high-quality environmental testing. Furthermore, an early warning system for air quality forecasts has been developed specifically for Jaipur city.
Infrastructure Expansion and Industrial Categories
The board has also expanded its operational reach with the establishment of two new regional offices in Jaipur and Jodhpur. In a notable achievement reflecting improved industrial compliance, the number of industrial areas classified in the white category has seen a dramatic increase from 104 to 877. This categorization indicates industries with minimal pollution potential, marking a positive shift towards sustainable industrial growth in the state.
