Parts of the higher reaches in Himachal Pradesh recorded fresh snowfall on Wednesday, while the low and mid hills across the state experienced light to moderate rain. Even as snowfall began in the upper reaches, several districts witnessed rainfall during the evening. Specifically, parts of Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Shimla, and Chamba districts recorded light to moderate rain on Wednesday. This widespread weather pattern highlights the diverse climatic effects across Himachal Pradesh's varied topography.
Meteorological Centre Issues Weather Alerts
According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, there is a possibility of heavy rain and snowfall in parts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, and Lahaul Spiti districts on March 18 and 19. For the remaining districts, the centre has issued a yellow alert, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. These alerts are crucial for residents and travelers to prepare for potential disruptions and safety hazards.

Meanwhile, temperature readings showed significant variations across the state. Tabo in Lahaul Spiti recorded the lowest minimum temperature of -2.8 degrees Celsius, indicating chilly conditions in the higher altitudes. In contrast, Nahan was the warmest location, with the highest maximum temperature reaching 24 degrees Celsius, reflecting milder weather in the lower regions.
