Gurgaon Weather Update: Light Rain Brings Relief, Dry Days Ahead
After a cloudy and breezy start to Monday, parts of Gurgaon received light rain in the afternoon, providing a brief respite from the heat. The city witnessed a noticeable drop in temperatures compared to the previous day, with weather patterns influenced by significant atmospheric disturbances.
Temperature Trends and Monitoring Data
At the Gurgaon KVK station, the minimum temperature recorded was 19°C, marking a decrease from 21.2°C on Sunday. The maximum temperature also fell to 33.7°C, down from 35°C. Meanwhile, the NorthCap University monitoring station reported a minimum of 20.9°C and a maximum of 34.6°C, indicating slight variations across different parts of the city.
IMD Analysis: Western Disturbances Drive Weather Changes
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the current weather conditions are attributed to a western disturbance persisting as an upper air cyclonic circulation over north Iran and the adjoining Caspian Sea. Additionally, an induced cyclonic circulation has shifted from northwest Rajasthan to Punjab and adjoining Haryana, leading to cloud formation and the light rain experienced in Gurgaon.
The IMD forecasts that the weather is likely to remain dry over the next two to three days. However, another spell of rain may begin towards the weekend, as a fresh western disturbance is expected to affect the region from April 2.
Temperature Fluctuations and Statewide Overview
The IMD has predicted a gradual rise of 3 to 5°C in temperatures over the coming days, followed by a fall of 3 to 5°C from April 4 onwards. Across Haryana, the average maximum temperature saw a marginal dip of 0.1°C from the previous day and remained near normal. Nuh recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 35.3°C.
The average minimum temperature fell by 0.5°C but remained above normal by 3.2°C. The lowest minimum temperatures of 18°C were recorded in Narnaul and Bhiwani, highlighting cooler conditions in certain areas.
Forecast for Tuesday and Beyond
For Tuesday, the IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Gurgaon, with the minimum and maximum temperatures likely to be around 20°C and 34°C respectively. Residents can expect a mix of dry and wet periods in the coming week, with temperature swings as the western disturbances continue to influence regional weather patterns.
