Wedding Party Bus Overturns in Gumla, Two Dead

Gumla: Two members of a wedding party were killed and several others injured when a bus carrying them overturned near Vetarkera More in Kamdara block of Gumla district early Sunday, police said.

Victims Identified

The deceased were identified as Sahil Bhangra, 28, and Chandra Mahto, 50, both residents of Tati-Bhandartoli under Torpa police station limits in Khunti district.

Wedding Return Journey

The passengers were returning to Tati-Bhandartoli after attending the wedding of Yogendra Mahto's son from Lachragarh in Simdega district, police added.

Injuries and Medical Response

Samuel Bhengra, 30, who was critically injured, was taken to the community health centre (CHC) in Kamdara, from where he was referred to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) in Ranchi. Several others who sustained minor injuries were treated and discharged from the CHC.

Police Investigation

Officer in-charge of Kurkura police station, Sanjay Munda, said, “The bus has been seized. The bodies have been sent to the Gumla Sadar hospital for post-mortem. A probe is ongoing to ascertain the cause of the accident.”
