Russia issued strong praise for Iran's recent retaliatory actions against the United States and Israel, calling them a 'shining example of defence' amid escalating regional tensions. According to Major-General Yevgeny Ilyin, first deputy head of the Russian Defence Ministry's Main Directorate of International Military Cooperation, Iran's armed forces demonstrated 'firm resolve' and readiness to respond to emerging threats in a 'proper and proportionate' manner.
Speaking at a ceremony in Moscow, Ilyin said the Islamic Republic of Iran Army has shown steadfastness and courage, becoming a 'reliable guarantor' of national independence and stability. The remarks were reported by Press TV Iran and highlight growing military and strategic alignment between Moscow and Tehran.
This development comes as ceasefire efforts continue in the region, with Russia backing Iran's stance against US-led operations. The praise underscores the deepening partnership between the two nations, which have coordinated on various geopolitical issues, including Syria and energy markets.
Iran's actions, which included retaliatory strikes against US assets, have been framed by Tehran as self-defense. The US has condemned the moves, but Russia's endorsement provides diplomatic cover for Iran. Analysts suggest this alignment could complicate future negotiations and regional stability.
