Mumbai's Central Railway division has announced a significant megablock operation this Sunday to carry out crucial engineering and maintenance work across its suburban network. While Western Railway will maintain normal services, Central Railway passengers should prepare for substantial schedule changes and cancellations.
Main Line Block Details
The maintenance work will affect slow lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Vidyavihar from 10:55 AM to 3:55 PM. During this five-hour period, significant alterations to regular services will be implemented to facilitate the essential engineering work.
Up slow services departing from Ghatkopar between 10:19 AM and 3:52 PM will be rerouted onto the Up fast line between Vidyavihar and CSMT. These diverted trains will make scheduled stops at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel, and Byculla stations, ensuring connectivity despite the block operations.
Harbour Line Service Disruptions
Harbour Line commuters will face service disruptions between Panvel and Vashi from 11:05 AM to 4:05 PM, though PORT Line services will remain operational throughout this period. The block will result in multiple train cancellations affecting both directions of travel.
Up Harbour Line trains heading toward CSMT that depart from Panvel between 10:33 AM and 3:49 PM will remain cancelled. Similarly, Down Harbour Line services traveling to Belapur and Panvel that leave CSMT between 9:45 AM and 3:12 PM will not operate during the specified timeframe.
Trans-Harbour Line Adjustments
The Trans-Harbour Line will experience significant service reductions during the maintenance window. Up services toward Thane departing from Panvel between 11:02 AM and 3:53 PM will be cancelled, along with Down services heading to Panvel that leave Thane between 10:01 AM and 3:20 PM.
Railway officials have confirmed that Trans-Harbour services will continue to operate between Thane and Vashi/Nerul during the block period. Additionally, the railway administration will run special local trains on the CSMT-Vashi route to minimize passenger inconvenience during the engineering work.
Regular commuters are advised to plan their Sunday travel carefully and account for additional journey time due to these scheduled maintenance operations. The railway authorities emphasize that these essential blocks are necessary for maintaining safety standards and infrastructure reliability across Mumbai's suburban rail network.
