Kanpur: Chief Development Officer (CDO) Abhinav Jain conducted an inspection of the ongoing restoration work at Saibasi Lake in the Sarsaul development block on Thursday. During the visit, officials assessed the progress and discussed strategies to ensure the project is completed on schedule.
Project Details and Objectives
Representatives from Matsya Jivi Sahkari Samiti Limited, the nominated agency responsible for the restoration, Rajneesh and Monu, informed that the plan aims to transform Saibasi Lake into a hub for fisheries and tourism. The restoration work includes the removal of water hyacinth, desilting, and deepening activities to enhance the lake's capacity and ecological health.
CDO's Directives for Accelerated Work
Taking stock of the progress, the CDO directed the agency to increase the number of machines and manpower to expedite the work and complete it within the stipulated timeframe. The executive engineer was instructed to connect a small canal or channel to the Rajapur canal to ensure an adequate water supply to the lake throughout the year, preventing seasonal drying.
Inspection of Previous Works
The Block Development Officer of Sarsaul and Gram Panchayat officials were directed to inspect works executed by the Zila Panchayat in previous years, including street light installations, interlocking roads, plantation drives, and branding boards. Any shortcomings found during inspection must be rectified as per rules to maintain quality and accountability.
