Separate Murders Shock Nagapattinam
Trichy: In a tragic turn of events, a man and a woman were brutally beaten to death in separate incidents near Nagapattinam. Their lifeless bodies were discovered on Thursday morning, sending shockwaves through the local community.
First Victim Found at Railway Station
Police received information early Thursday that the body of a 40-year-old man was found near the goods shed at Nagapattinam railway station. The deceased was later identified as Arun Kumar, a resident of Akkaraipettai.
Second Victim Collapses at Hospital
Shortly after, a woman aged approximately 35, identified as Chithra from Kilvelur, collapsed with bleeding injuries on the premises of the Nagapattinam Government Hospital. She was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police Investigation Underway
District Superintendent of Police Sujit Kumar personally visited both crime scenes to oversee investigations. Authorities have examined CCTV footage from nearby locations and deployed forensic experts along with sniffer dogs to gather evidence.
According to police sources, Chithra was attacked with stones by unidentified assailants near a liquor shop at the Nagapattinam bus stand. The attackers fled the scene, leaving her critically injured. She managed to reach the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
Separate Cases Registered
Respective police stations have filed separate cases for both murders and are continuing their probes. Police are working to identify the suspects and establish a motive behind the attacks.
The incidents have raised concerns about public safety in the area. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward to assist the investigation.
