A significant fire erupted at the Adharwadi dumping ground in Kalyan on Sunday evening, sending thick smoke billowing across nearby residential areas and causing residents to experience breathing difficulties.

The blaze was reported around 6:30 pm and rapidly intensified, spreading across the upper layers of the dumping site. The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) deployed six fire engines to the location to manage the situation.

Fire officer Namdev Chaudhary stated that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. He noted that the fire started at the topmost section of the dumping ground, complicating firefighting efforts. Officials indicated that due to the scale and location of the fire, it may take several hours to fully extinguish the flames.
