A tragic road accident occurred in Moga district of Punjab, where a 30-year-old biker was burnt to death after a head-on collision with a truck. The incident took place on the Moga-Barnala road near the village of Bhinder Kalan on Tuesday evening.
Details of the Accident
The victim, identified as Gurpreet Singh, a resident of village Dharamkot, was returning home on his motorcycle when a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with him. The impact was so severe that the motorcycle caught fire immediately, engulfing the biker in flames. By the time locals and passersby could react, the fire had spread rapidly, leaving no chance for rescue. The truck driver, however, managed to escape unhurt and fled the scene.
Police Investigation
Upon receiving information, police from the local station reached the spot and extinguished the fire with the help of a fire brigade. The body was charred beyond recognition and was sent to the civil hospital for post-mortem. Senior police officials have registered a case against the unknown truck driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act. The police are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the truck and its driver.
