150-Year-Old Tree Collapse in Buxar Causes Power Outage

Residents of Dumraon town in Buxar faced chaos and hardship on Wednesday after a massive and nearly 150-year-old tree collapsed at the busy Rajgarh Chowk during a powerful storm accompanied by strong winds.

Power Supply Severely Affected

The incident snapped the area's power supply, and even 24 hours later, electricity had not been restored. This sparked widespread anger among locals and raised serious questions about the administration's response. The fallen tree not only blocked movement but also damaged power lines, plunging large parts of Dumraon into darkness. With no electricity, residents have been struggling to access basic necessities such as drinking water, while the sweltering conditions have made nights particularly difficult.

Former MLA Expresses Concern

Former Dumraon MLA Ajit Kumar Singh visited the site on Thursday and expressed concern over the delay in restoring normalcy. He termed the situation "unfortunate" and described it as administrative apathy. Singh pointed out that children, elderly people, and patients were the worst affected due to the prolonged outage. He said he reached the spot soon after receiving information, assessed the situation, and alerted the forest department as well as senior officials. Stressing the urgency, Singh called for immediate action to remove the tree, restore electricity, and normalise civic services.
