Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the all-new 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, a high-performance electric sedan that signals a new era for the AMG brand. While the traditional V8 engine has been replaced by an electric powertrain, the vehicle retains AMG's signature character through a meticulously crafted simulated V8 soundtrack. Here is a comprehensive look at the key details.
Powertrain and Performance
The new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is built on the brand’s dedicated AMG.EA electric platform. It features a revolutionary triple-motor setup comprising three compact axial-flux motors: two mounted on the rear axle and one at the front. The flagship GT 63 4MATIC+ version produces a staggering 1,169 horsepower, while the GT 55 4MATIC+ delivers 816 horsepower.
Mercedes-AMG claims the GT 63 can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.1 seconds and reach 200 km/h in 6.4 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 300 km/h with the optional Driver’s Package. The electric coupe is equipped with a large 106 kWh battery pack that supports up to 600 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 10 to 80 percent charge in approximately 11 minutes. Mercedes says the system can add nearly 460 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes of charging. Depending on the variant, the claimed WLTP range reaches up to 700 kilometers.
Emotional Driving Experience
Despite the absence of a combustion engine, Mercedes-AMG has focused heavily on delivering an emotional driving experience. The GT 4-Door Coupe features a simulated V8 soundtrack created using over 1,600 sound samples. It also includes virtual gearshift effects controlled through steering-wheel paddles to mimic the feel of a traditional AMG performance car.
Design and Interior
In terms of design, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe boasts AMG-specific styling elements, including an illuminated grille and sharp LED headlamps with star-shaped daytime running lights. At the rear, triple round LED taillamps flank an active rear spoiler and a large diffuser. Inside, the cabin features a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and dual 14-inch screens integrated into a large glass panel. AMG-specific graphics and performance displays are included.
The center console houses three physical rotary controls as part of AMG’s new Race Engineer system. The electric coupe also offers multiple drive modes, including a ForceSport+ mode, along with sporty seats, ambient lighting, and a flat-bottom steering wheel with integrated controls.
