Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched the second edition of the 'Tech-Wari' initiative, titled 'Tech-Wari 2.0', on Tuesday. Addressing the gathering, he drew a parallel between the common man and the revered deity Vitthal, emphasizing the importance of technological empowerment for every citizen.
Technological Literacy for All
Fadnavis highlighted the rapid pace of technological change, noting that literacy has evolved significantly over time. He stated, 'Earlier, literacy meant basic education; then it became about internet usage; and now, it is about understanding artificial intelligence (AI). The common man is our Vitthal, and we must ensure he is not left behind in this digital revolution.'
Key Features of Tech-Wari 2.0
The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by providing training and resources to citizens across Maharashtra. Key components include workshops on AI, cybersecurity, and digital payments. The program will be implemented in rural and urban areas, targeting students, farmers, and small business owners.
Fadnavis also stressed the need for collaboration between government, private sector, and educational institutions to make the initiative successful. He urged tech companies to contribute by offering expertise and infrastructure.
The launch event was attended by several state ministers, industry leaders, and technology experts. Demonstrations of AI applications in agriculture, healthcare, and education were showcased during the event.
Tech-Wari 2.0 is expected to reach over 10 million citizens in the next two years, making Maharashtra a leader in digital literacy. The government has allocated a budget of ₹500 crore for the program.
