Mumbai: Ninety specialised streetlight poles have been erected on a 2.5-kilometre stretch of Gorai beach in Borivli. The project, executed by Adani Electricity in coordination with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), faced significant challenges due to the irregular terrain and harsh environmental conditions.
Challenges Overcome During Installation
The irregular terrain of Gorai beach made standard pole installation impractical. Engineers had to devise custom solutions to ensure stability and durability. Additionally, continuous exposure to saline air increased the risk of corrosion, necessitating the use of specialised materials and coatings to protect the poles.
Collaborative Effort
Adani Electricity worked closely with the BMC to complete the project. The poles are designed to withstand the coastal environment, ensuring long-term functionality and safety for beachgoers. The installation aims to improve visibility and security along the popular beach stretch.
This development is part of broader efforts to enhance infrastructure in Mumbai's suburban areas. The new lighting is expected to benefit residents and tourists visiting Gorai beach, especially during evening hours.
