Varanasi: Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj, who is also the fiancée of cricketer Rinku Singh, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Cyber Crime Police Station in Jaunpur against two individuals for allegedly sharing her morphed AI-generated images on social media platforms.

Details of the FIR

Acting on the complaint filed by the MP, the Cyber Crime Police Station registered an FIR under multiple serious charges against local resident Amod Singh and advocate Vishal Singh on May 13. The complaint included detailed information about the social media accounts, pages, and direct links associated with the offensive posts.

Nature of the Offensive Content

Saroj alleged that the accused shared artificially generated and digitally altered images containing personal and targeted content with the intention of defaming her and tarnishing her public image and character. She emphasized that the content was completely false and created using artificial intelligence, causing serious damage to her dignity and reputation as a public representative.

Legal Provisions Invoked

The accused have been booked under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including 356(2) (criminal defamation), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 351(3) (aggravated criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 75 (sexual harassment), 78 (stalking), and 79 (intentionally insulting a woman's modesty). Additionally, relevant sections of the Information Technology Act have been invoked.

Call for Action

In her statement, Saroj urged the authorities to take strict action against all the Facebook accounts and pages involved in the dissemination of the morphed images. She reiterated that such malicious acts not only harm individuals but also undermine the integrity of public discourse.
