Lucknow Police and Piramal Finance Launch 15-Day Cyber Awareness Campaign

The Lucknow Police Commissionerate has teamed up with Piramal Finance Limited to launch a 15-day cyber awareness campaign. This initiative aims to tackle the growing problem of cyber financial fraud in the city. The campaign, titled 'Sabki Neeyat Saaf Nahi Hoti', started on Tuesday and focuses on educating residents about safe digital practices.

Rising Cyber Threats Prompt Action

Cyber offences have increased significantly in Lucknow due to the rapid growth of online banking, digital payments, e-commerce, and social media usage. Common scams include fake bank calls, OTP and KYC frauds, phishing links, fraudulent websites, and social media account hacking. The police noted that these crimes often lead to substantial financial losses for victims.

Kiran Yadav, the additional deputy commissioner of police for cyber crime in Lucknow, formally flagged off the campaign. She urged citizens to stay alert while using digital platforms. Yadav also encouraged people to report any suspected cyber fraud to the police immediately.

Campaign Activities and Outreach

The awareness drive will cover 40 to 45 identified locations across Lucknow. These include major markets, busy crossings, and other public places. The police plan to use various methods to spread their message effectively.

  • Street plays, or nukkad nataks, based on real cyber fraud cases will be performed to engage audiences.
  • Social media campaigns will share tips and warnings about common scams.
  • Awareness videos, jingles, banners, and posters will be distributed to highlight key safety measures.

Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar emphasized the importance of this effort. He stated that cyber awareness is crucial for maintaining public trust in digital systems. Sengar believes that educating people can help them identify threats early and prevent financial harm.

Goals and Expected Impact

The primary goal of this 15-day campaign is to reduce cyber financial fraud by empowering citizens with knowledge. By learning about common tactics used by criminals, residents can better protect themselves online. The police hope this initiative will lead to fewer incidents and quicker reporting of scams.

This collaboration between Lucknow Police and Piramal Finance reflects a proactive approach to community safety. As digital adoption continues to rise, such awareness drives become essential for fostering a secure online environment.
