Deoghar Police Arrest Six in Drug Raid, Seize Brown Sugar

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Deoghar police apprehended six individuals, including a woman, during a raid at Ruiya Dharamshala in Jasidih on Thursday. The operation led to the seizure of more than 76 grams of brown sugar, with an estimated street value of approximately Rs 15 lakh.

Details of the Operation

Acting on a specific tip-off, a police team conducted the raid and caught the accused red-handed while they were allegedly involved in the sale and purchase of narcotics. Deoghar Superintendent of Police Praveen Pushkar confirmed the arrests and highlighted the meticulous planning behind the operation.

Arrests and Seizures

The police first detained Gul Mohammad and Ismail Ansari, who were found transporting the drug consignment to Deoghar via train. Further investigation revealed the involvement of Sikandar Mehta, also known as Yadav, a resident of Deoghar who had been active in drug trafficking for some time. He had also recruited his wife, Khushboo Devi, into the illegal trade. Two additional suspects, Ravi Jha and Bablu Choudhary, were also arrested during the raid.

Legal Proceedings

All six accused have been forwarded for judicial custody. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the broader network and any further connections. The successful operation underscores the commitment of Deoghar police to combat drug trafficking in the region.
