Students from several colleges affiliated with Veer Kunwar Singh University (VKSU) have raised serious allegations regarding the conduct of graduation Part-II Semester-II examinations. They claim that the exams are being held despite the absence of regular classroom teaching. Additionally, they have accused certain colleges and the university of irregularities in the collection of certificate and transfer certificate fees.
Allegations of Double Certificate Fee
According to the students, certificate charges were collected during the submission of examination forms. However, the certificates were not issued on time. Later, students were reportedly asked to pay an additional Rs 500 online to obtain the same certificates. Archana Kumari, a student of Sumitra College in Dumraon, expressed her frustration: “We already paid the certificate fee while filling up the examination form, but later we were again asked to pay Rs 500 separately online. This is unfair.”
Exams Conducted Without Proper Teaching
Several students have questioned how semester examinations are being conducted despite poor classroom teaching. “Classes were hardly conducted, yet examinations are being held regularly. Students are suffering because of the university’s negligence,” a student remarked. The university released the Semester-II examination schedule on May 6, and the exams commenced on May 12. Internal examinations were conducted between May 6 and May 12. Students pointed out that the examinations were scheduled barely a month after the publication of Semester-I results, leaving them with insufficient preparation time.
Teacher Raises Moral Concerns
A teacher involved in the examination process commented, “We have no moral ground to check unfair means during examinations when proper classes have not been conducted.” This statement highlights the ethical dilemma faced by faculty members in the current situation.
University Official Responds
Veer Kunwar Singh University’s examination controller, Lal Babu Singh, acknowledged the issues. He stated that he had recently taken charge and that the examination schedule had already been fixed to maintain the academic session. “From now onwards, I will try to ensure that no semester examination is conducted without regular classes. I will also look into the matter regarding the additional Rs 500 being charged for certificates,” Lal Babu assured.
