Bengaluru: A teenager involved in snatching gold chains, mobile phones, and stealing two-wheelers has been detained, leading to the recovery of stolen property worth Rs 4.2 lakh and detection of 11 cases, police said.
Incident and Investigation
A student staying in a PG accommodation in HBR Layout lodged a complaint on May 19, stating that while she was walking along 18th Cross, a scooter-borne miscreant snatched her phone and sped away. Police traced the 17-year-old suspect to near KEB Junction in Nagawara on May 21, along with a stolen scooter and mobile phone.
The juvenile allegedly confessed to involvement in multiple two-wheeler thefts and phone snatchings. He had parked the stolen vehicles in a vacant plot near a playground in Chellikere. Police recovered four stolen two-wheelers, seven mobile phones, and a nine-gram gold chain from the location.
Recovery and Legal Action
The recovered items include four two-wheelers, seven mobile phones, and a gold chain, collectively valued at Rs 4.2 lakh. The suspect has been detained under relevant sections of the law, and further investigations are underway to determine if he was part of a larger network.
Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
