Six Arrested for Leaking Vijay's Film 'Jana Nayagan'

Chennai: At least six individuals, including a 34-year-old software engineer, have been arrested by the cybercrime police for their involvement in the online leak and circulation of 'Jana Nayagan', the final film of actor Vijay. The movie was originally slated for release ahead of the assembly elections.

Arrests and Charges

The accused have been booked under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Information Technology Act, the Copyright Act, and the Cinematograph Act. Police identified one of the arrested men as Balaji, a software engineer. The identities of the other five accused were withheld by investigators.

How the Leak Happened

According to police, the accused downloaded the leaked content and stored it on their mobile phones and electronic devices. They then shared the material with others through various digital platforms. The investigation revealed that Balaji had links to a freelance editor who was arrested earlier in connection with the theft and leak of the film.
