Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) has conducted a route survey to arrange transport facilities for travelers heading to the newly constructed Bhogapuram Airport. The authorities have planned to introduce eight air-conditioned buses operating from Kurmannapalem, located near the Steel Plant, to Bhogapuram. Additionally, they intend to set up air-conditioned lounges for air travelers at selected points along the national highway.
Survey Conducted on Official Instructions
The survey was carried out under the guidance of District Collector Abhishkt Kishore and GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg. The RTC Regional Manager B Appala Naidu, GVMC City Planner Dhanujay Reddy, and other officials participated in the survey to assess the requirements and feasibility of the proposed services.
Airport Commissioning and Flight Operations
The newly constructed Bhogapuram Airport is scheduled to be commissioned in the first week of July, with flight operations commencing in the second week of the same month. To facilitate smooth travel for air passengers from the city to the airport, which is located over 50 kilometers away, the authorities estimated the number of potential travelers from various areas within the city.
AC Lounges on NH-16
The authorities have planned to construct separate air-conditioned lounges for air travelers along National Highway 16. Six locations have been selected for these lounges: Kurmannapalem, Gajuwaka, NAD, Maddilapalem, Madhurawada, and Tagarapuvalasa. These lounges will provide comfortable waiting areas for passengers before they board the buses.
Electric Buses and Charging Infrastructure
Appala Naidu confirmed that all eight buses will be electric vehicles, promoting eco-friendly transportation. A temporary charging station will be arranged at Bhogapuram Airport to support these buses. He further stated that the number of routes and buses would be increased based on the demand of air travelers. The air-conditioned buses are expected to arrive in the city by the end of June, ensuring that passengers have access to modern and comfortable travel options.
