Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has demanded a judicial inquiry and the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to unearth what he termed the 'entire scam' surrounding the CBSE Open School Module (OSM) controversy. Addressing the media, Gandhi alleged that the company entrusted with the responsibility for the OSM, identified as COEMPT, had previously committed similar misdeeds in Telangana in 2019, operating under the name 'Globarena'. He accused the central government of negligence and called for a thorough investigation to hold those responsible accountable.
Background of the Allegations
The CBSE OSM system, designed to facilitate open schooling, has come under scrutiny over reports of irregularities, including alleged manipulation of student records and financial misconduct. Rahul Gandhi's remarks come amid growing political pressure on the government to address the issue. He claimed that COEMPT's past record in Telangana raises serious questions about the selection process and oversight mechanisms.
Demand for SIT and Judicial Inquiry
Gandhi emphasized that a judicial inquiry is essential to restore public trust in the examination system. He also called for an SIT probe to investigate the alleged scam comprehensively, suggesting that the matter involves high-level complicity. 'The government must ensure that the guilty are punished and such incidents do not recur,' he stated.
The Congress party has been vocal in criticizing the Narendra Modi-led government over the CBSE issue, accusing it of compromising the integrity of the education system. Meanwhile, the government has yet to respond formally to Gandhi's demands.
