Panchkula Police Launch Month-Long Anti-Drug Campaign MAIDAN 2.0
Panchkula Police Launch MAIDAN 2.0 Anti-Drug Drive

Panchkula police have initiated a comprehensive month-long anti-drug campaign named MAIDAN 2.0, aimed at curbing drug trafficking and substance abuse across the district. The drive was announced during a video conference chaired by Police Commissioner Pankaj Nain, which was attended by senior officers including the DCP of Panchkula, DCP of Crime and Traffic, and officials from the anti-narcotics cell.

Key Focus Areas of the Campaign

The campaign will primarily focus on identifying drug hotspots, enhancing surveillance, and taking stringent action against traffickers and repeat offenders. Police have been directed to intensify checking in identified hotspots and improve monitoring through CCTV cameras and drone surveillance. Parks and other vulnerable areas will also be monitored using drones to detect drug peddling and usage.

Strict Monitoring of Chemist Shops

Authorities have stated that chemist shops will be kept under strict watch, especially those suspected of illegally selling intoxicants. CCTV systems at medical stores will be audited, and any violations will invite legal action. This measure aims to prevent the illegal distribution of medicines that can be misused as drugs.

Verification of Drug Offenders

The campaign includes monitoring of drug offenders who are out on parole. Police teams will regularly verify their activities and, where required, examine their mobile phones. Additionally, cases of individuals booked under the NDPS Act over the past five years will be re-verified. In a significant move, police will initiate action against properties allegedly acquired through drug money, including attachment or demolition as per the law.

Expansion of Intelligence Network

The department also plans to expand its network of 'police mitras' in hotspot areas to strengthen intelligence gathering on drug supply chains. This initiative aims to enhance community involvement and improve the flow of information to law enforcement.
