Bengaluru: A domestic help, employed by a family for over a decade, has been accused of stealing approximately Rs 25 lakh from her employer’s residence in Jnanabharati Layout. The police have recovered Rs 15 lakh of the stolen amount.
How the Theft Was Discovered
The incident came to light when businessman Bhadrirangan B discovered that the money kept in a wardrobe had gone missing. He told the police that the cash was from the sale of a plot nearly two years ago and was being saved for the purchase of a new property.
The wardrobe key was kept in a drawer near the TV unit. After confirming that neither his wife nor his mother knew anything about the missing money, Bhadrirangan checked the CCTV footage installed in the house. The footage allegedly showed the domestic help, identified as Ratnamma, stealing the money on multiple occasions.
Police Investigation and Recovery
When the Rajarajeshwarinagar police visited Ratnamma’s house, she was not present. However, her daughter admitted her mother’s involvement in the theft. The police searched the house and recovered Rs 15 lakh in cash.
The accused is still at large, and the police are continuing their investigation to trace her and recover the remaining stolen amount.
