The Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET-UG) experienced delays at multiple examination centres on Thursday due to a technical glitch. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exam, revised the afternoon session timing to accommodate the affected candidates.
Technical Glitch Causes Disruption
According to reports, the glitch occurred in the morning session, causing a delay of nearly an hour at some centres. Candidates were seen waiting outside exam halls as officials worked to resolve the issue. The NTA promptly addressed the situation and announced a revised schedule for the afternoon shift.
Revised Timings Announced
The afternoon session, originally scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM, was pushed back to 3:30 PM. The NTA instructed all centres to ensure that no candidate loses out on time. The glitch was reportedly a server-side issue that affected the login process for some candidates.
An NTA official stated, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Our technical team is working to resolve the issue and ensure smooth conduct of the exam." The official also assured that the delay would not affect the overall evaluation process.
Candidates Express Frustration
Many candidates expressed frustration over the delay, citing the uncertainty and stress it caused. However, they appreciated the NTA's quick response in revising the timings. One candidate said, "It was stressful, but we are glad that the authorities acted fast to minimize the impact."
NTA's Measures to Prevent Future Issues
The NTA has announced that it will conduct a thorough review of the technical infrastructure to prevent such glitches in future sessions. The agency also advised candidates to stay updated through official channels for any further announcements.
The CUET-UG is a crucial exam for admission to central universities across India. Over 15 lakh candidates are registered for the exam, which is being held in multiple shifts across various centres.
