The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a statement acknowledging the disruption and delay caused by a technical glitch during the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2026 examination on Saturday. The agency has assured that affected candidates will be given another opportunity to appear for the examination.
NTA's Assurance to Candidates
In a post on X, the testing organization stated, "We know today's unfortunate technical disruption caused distress for some CUET (UG) 2026 candidates. Candidates who did their Biometric Registration and were present at their examination centres today in Shift-I, but couldn't complete their examination due to this technical glitch, will get an opportunity for the examination."
TCS CEO's Statement
K Krithivasan, CEO and MD of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), also addressed the issue, explaining that a brief technical issue led to a delay in the morning shift. He noted that the problem was quickly identified and resolved by technical teams, after which the examination resumed. "A brief technical issue caused a delay of around two hours in the CUET-UG examination in the morning shift today. The issue was promptly identified and resolved by our technical teams, and the examination has since resumed without any impact on the sanctity of the exam. We regret the inconvenience," he wrote on X.
Details of the Glitch
The Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2026 was delayed at some examination centres on Saturday after a technical glitch affected the commencement of the test, leaving several students stranded at centres. The agency reported that the issue was identified by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which is involved in conducting the examination, and added that it had been resolved. Steps were taken to ensure candidates did not lose examination time.
Revised Schedule
Following the disruption, the NTA revised the schedule for the afternoon session. Candidates were asked to report from 2:30 pm, while the examination was rescheduled to begin at 4:00 pm instead of the originally planned 3:00 pm. The agency also stated that candidates appearing in the morning session would be given the full duration of the examination and allowed to leave only after completing the allotted test time. Arrangements were made to ensure that no candidate was affected by the delay.
