Chennai-based student R Abhinav has secured the first rank in the engineering admissions rank list of Sastra Deemed University, Thanjavur, for the academic year 2026-27 in both Stream I and Stream II categories. Abhinav achieved a Class XII score of 97.8% and a JEE Main score of 99.6909 to top the list. He completed his schooling at Srimathi Sundaravalli Memorial School in Chennai.
Admission Process and Statistics
Over 37,000 students from across India registered for the engineering admissions. All applications received up to 5 PM on Friday, June 5, were processed, and the rank list was released at 9 PM the same day. For Stream I, 50% of seats are allocated based on Class XII aggregate and JEE Main scores, while the remaining 50% under Stream II are based solely on Class XII aggregate scores.
Reservation and Scholarships
Sastra University has reserved 20% of seats for students from Trichy and Thanjavur districts. Additionally, special provisions are made for students from Northeastern states, Jammu and Kashmir, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep. The university also offers special scholarships for students who are children of martyred or serving personnel of the Indian armed forces.
