Indian men's Test team captain Shubman Gill has called for perspective and collective strength after the national team suffered their most devastating defeat in Test cricket history. India fell to South Africa by a massive 408 runs in the second Test at Guwahati, completing a 2-0 series sweep for the visiting team.

The young captain had traveled with the squad to Guwahati with hopes of recovering in time for a late fitness assessment. However, medical evaluation determined he wasn't match-ready. Gill has subsequently traveled to Mumbai for specialist consultation with Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala and has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series beginning November 30.
