IkiHikari Empowers Rajasthan Para-Cricket Team with Sports Wheelchairs

During the fifth and final match of the Mixed Disability T20I Cricket Series between India and England at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium last Friday, a heartwarming initiative unfolded alongside the sporting action. The IkiHikari organization presented a Rajasthan wheelchair cricket team with specialized sports wheelchairs, capturing the attention of the modest crowd gathered for the international fixture.

Supporting Mobility and Independence

On February 6, IkiHikari distributed 12 sports wheelchairs and two transfer lift chairs to team members hailing from various regions across Rajasthan, including Jaisalmer, Alwar, Sikar, and Jodhpur. This marked the organization's inaugural philanthropic venture, with founder Manasvini Bengani expressing pride in achieving their initial objective.

"As our first step, we are supporting para-athletes by providing mobility equipment that fosters independence in both daily life and sports," stated Bengani. "For this phase, I am delighted we have successfully completed our goal."

The Philosophy Behind IkiHikari

Bengani elaborated on her organization's mission, explaining that "IkiHikari" derives from Japanese words meaning "life and light." The core philosophy emphasizes that life inherently possesses strength but sometimes requires appropriate support to progress with dignity and autonomy.

"Having been raised in Japan, where quiet compassion, respect, and purpose are deeply ingrained values, I felt compelled to undertake practical action," she shared. "This isn't about charity or fixing people—it's about walking alongside individuals and enabling meaningful life experiences in tangible ways."

A Commitment to Ongoing Support

Although this represented IkiHikari's first public event, Bengani pledged to continue such initiatives regularly. Her motivation stemmed from observing how access to proper mobility equipment can transform the lives of para-athletes and individuals with disabilities.

"Why should anyone need constant assistance? A wheelchair or assistive device represents more than just equipment—it symbolizes freedom, confidence, and active participation," Bengani emphasized. "IkiHikari is my thoughtful response to genuine needs, progressing step by step with transparency and respect."

The donation occurred during a significant cricket event, highlighting the growing recognition and support for disability sports in India. The Rajasthan wheelchair cricket team, now better equipped, can focus on enhancing their athletic performance and promoting inclusive sports participation across the state.
