Pune Police Rule Out Foul Play in Gymnast Bhosale's Death

The Vishrantwadi police on Thursday ruled out foul play in the death of acrobatic gymnast Subedar Siddhesh Bhosale after examining CCTV footage, but the mystery of how his hands were tied remains unresolved.

CCTV Footage Reveals Movements

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IV) Chilumula Rajnikanth stated that the CCTV footage collected from the area showed Bhosale leaving his residence around 5 am on Wednesday and heading towards the spot where his body was found. The footage indicates that he stepped out early in the morning, procured a water pipe, and walked to the location. He appears to have attached the pipe to a tree branch, climbed onto the roof of a nearby structure, and jumped, Rajnikanth told the Times of India.

Unanswered Questions

The police said one aspect remained unclear a day after Bhosale's death. We are still trying to determine how his hands were tied, Rajnikanth said. Bhosale, an international-level gymnast employed in the Indian Army, was found hanging from a tree near his home at Kusmade Colony in Mhaske Vasti on Pune-Alandi road on Wednesday morning.

Post-Mortem Findings

The post-mortem examination confirmed that Bhosale died due to hanging, with a fractured neck bone. The police have recorded statements of Bhosale's relatives and friends. According to the police, he had been under emotional distress following the death of his mother in a road accident and the recent loss of a relative, who was a police officer. So far, these appear to be strong factors that may have influenced Bhosale to take the extreme step, Rajnikanth said.

Achievements and Family

Bhosale was part of the Indian contingent that won a bronze medal at the Acrobatic Gymnastics Asian Championship held in Almaty in 2017. He is survived by his wife and two children.
