Conor McGregor Demands New UFC Contract, Eyes White House Fight in June
McGregor Demands New UFC Contract, Eyes White House Fight

Conor McGregor recently announced that his UFC contract needs a complete reset. The former two-division champion made this declaration during a live stream. He explained that fundamental changes in the UFC's media landscape have made his current deal obsolete.

McGregor Declares Current UFC Contract Void

McGregor stated his contract is essentially void right now. He based this claim on the UFC's shift away from the traditional pay-per-view model. This model had long defined his earning power within the promotion.

"My contract, essentially, is void right now because there's no more PPV, whereas my contract was based on PPV sales," McGregor said during the stream. "I'm the highest-generating PPV fighter of all time. The PPV system is done, I'm due a new contract."

Negotiations Tied to Massive Paramount Deal

McGregor directly linked his demand for a new contract to the UFC's recent broadcast agreement with Paramount. He highlighted the enormous financial scale of this new partnership.

"They've actually got a new deal with Paramount, it's worth $7.7 billion. So the company has 4xed its profit," McGregor noted. He confirmed that formal negotiations are scheduled for February. "We're going into negotiations in February, and I'm very interested to see how it goes."

These remarks arrive as McGregor's absence from active competition stretches into a fifth year. His last fight was in July 2021 against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, where he suffered a broken leg. Speculation about his return has followed every public appearance since that injury.

White House Fight Card Takes Center Stage

Alongside the contract discussions, McGregor spoke openly about a potential return date and a spectacular venue. He specifically referenced a planned event set for June 14, which has been widely described as a UFC card at the White House.

"I'm warming up now for the White House fight," McGregor declared with confidence. "I'm gonna be at it, for sure. It's gonna be insane, the White House card is gonna be."

Focus on Preparation Amidst the Noise

McGregor emphasized that his preparation has become the central focus as negotiations approach. He is dedicating himself fully to training and recovery.

"I'm focusing on what I can control. I'm in the gym. I'm living in the gym, focusing on my health, focusing on my rest, listening to my coaches, following the game plan," McGregor explained. He added a note of determination: "External noise is non-existent for me."

UFC CEO Dana White has previously indicated that official booking for major June events, like the potential White House card, will begin after UFC 324. McGregor is believed to have two fights remaining on his current deal, though the legal implications of the new Paramount agreement on existing fighter contracts remain unclear. His latest comments frame the contract issue as part of broader, ongoing talks rather than a finalized resolution.
