The city of Coimbatore witnessed an extraordinary display of fitness and philanthropy as the 13th edition of its premier running event, the Walkaroo Coimbatore Marathon 2025, concluded successfully on Sunday. The event saw a massive turnout, with over 25,000 participants from various parts of India converging to run for a cause.

Record Participation Across Multiple Race Categories

The marathon, organized jointly by the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation (CCF) and Coimbatore Runners, was designed to cater to athletes and fitness enthusiasts of all levels. It featured five distinct categories to encourage wide participation: a challenging 21.1km half marathon, a 10km run, a 5km run, a 5km walk, and a corporate relay. This inclusive structure ensured that everyone from serious runners to casual walkers and corporate teams could be part of the large-scale community initiative.

Flag-Off by Dignitaries and a Noble Cause

The event commenced from Park Gate Road, flagged off by a panel of distinguished officials. The gathering included Coimbatore district collector Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar, V Balakrishnan IPS, inspector general, BSF, ministry of home affairs, and Coimbatore city police commissioner A Saravana Sundar. The primary driving force behind the marathon is its commitment to social good. All funds raised from the event will be channeled through the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation to support cancer patients, providing crucial aid for their treatment and care.

Celebrating Success and Community Support

The concluding ceremony and prize distribution were held at the Stanes School Ground, where a total prize money of 3.85 lakh was awarded to the winners across categories. Dr. T Balaji, managing trustee of the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation, expressed his gratitude for the event's success. He stated that the thirteenth edition was a resounding achievement, highlighted by record participation and overwhelming community backing. Dr. Balaji extended thanks to the district collector, police commissioner, corporation commissioner, and all government departments for their invaluable support in facilitating a world-class marathon experience.

The Walkaroo Coimbatore Marathon 2025 has once again solidified its position as not just a major sporting fixture in South India, but also as a powerful platform for community engagement and charitable contribution, bringing the city together for health and humanity.
