The Border Security Force (BSF) has unveiled a significant recruitment drive aimed at India's sporting talent. The force is inviting applications for a total of 549 posts under the Constable (General Duty) Sports Quota for the year 2025. Aspiring candidates need to mark their calendars for the crucial application window. The online application process will commence on December 27, 2025. The portal will remain open for submissions until January 15, 2026. It is mandatory for all interested athletes to apply through the official BSF recruitment website, rectt.bsf.gov.in. The BSF has clarified that only online applications will be considered valid.

Eligibility, Posts, and Sports Disciplines

This recruitment offers a golden opportunity for athletes with a basic educational qualification. Candidates need only be 10th pass to be eligible, with the primary focus being on their sporting achievements. The scheme encompasses a wide array of over 30 sports disciplines, ensuring diverse talent can apply.

The 549 posts have been thoughtfully allocated to promote gender balance in the force. Out of the total vacancies, 277 posts are reserved for male athletes and 272 posts for female athletes. The covered sports include popular games like athletics, boxing, wrestling, hockey, football, kabaddi, volleyball, shooting, swimming, and yoga, among others.

Age Limit, Salary, and Selection Stages

Applicants must be between 18 and 23 years of age as of August 18, 2025. The BSF provides standard age relaxation for candidates from reserved categories. SC/ST candidates receive a relaxation of 5 years, while OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years of relaxation.

Upon selection, candidates will be enrolled in Pay Level-3 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, with a monthly salary ranging from Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100. This is complemented by all standard central government allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, and benefits under the New Pension Scheme.

The selection process is multi-layered to ensure only the most suitable candidates are chosen:

  • Initial scrutiny of applications and sports certificates.
  • Document verification for educational and sports credentials.
  • Physical Standard Test (PST) checking height, weight, and chest measurement.

Male candidates from the General and OBC categories are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 159. However, female candidates and those from SC/ST categories are exempted from paying any fee.
