Bihar Para-Sports Competition 2025-26 Launches with Ceremonial Start in Patna

The two-day state-level inter-divisional para-sports competition for the year 2025-26 officially began on Friday at the Pataliputra Sports Complex in Patna. This significant event is being organized through a collaborative effort by the Patna district administration, operating under the sports department, and the Bihar State Sports Authority.

Inauguration Ceremony Led by Key Officials

The tournament was inaugurated in a formal ceremony with Vidur Bharti, the district planning officer, serving as the chief guest. He was joined by Anandi Kumar, the sports executive of the Bihar State Sports Authority, and Shivaji Kumar, the president of the Bihar para sports association. The inauguration featured traditional elements such as flag hoisting and a balloon release, symbolizing the start of the competitions.

March Past and Oath Administration Set the Tone

Participants from across the state marched past to the tunes played by the band of Dhaneshwari Devnandan Girls Higher Secondary School, adding a vibrant and disciplined atmosphere to the event. Abhimanyu Kumar of the Saran division administered the oath to the athletes, emphasizing the spirit of fair play and dedication. The program was skillfully moderated by Abhishek Kumar, an NIS coach and physical education teacher, ensuring smooth proceedings.

Participation and Encouraging Words from Leaders

Approximately 250 para-athletes, along with their assistants and officials representing nine divisions, are actively participating in this competition. During the inauguration, Vidur Bharti highlighted the importance of discipline and sportsmanship, stating that the character built through such competitions is as crucial as the results achieved. Anandi Kumar praised the determination and resilience of the athletes, while Shivaji Kumar offered words of encouragement to inspire them throughout the event.

Welcome Gestures and Organizational Efforts

District sports officer Om Prakash welcomed the guests with thoughtful gestures, presenting them with saplings and mementoes as tokens of appreciation. This reflects the commitment of the organizing bodies to foster a supportive and environmentally conscious environment for the sports community.
