Indian Army Leaves for Cambodia for CINBAX-II Exercise

An Indian Army contingent has departed for Cambodia to participate in the bilateral military exercise CINBAX-II. The exercise is scheduled to take place at the Techo Sen Phnom Thom Mreas Prov Royal Cambodian Air Force Training Centre, also known as Camp Basil, from May 4 to May 17, according to a social media post by the Army.

Contingent Composition

The Indian Army contingent comprises 120 personnel, primarily drawn from a battalion of the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment. On the other hand, the Cambodian contingent consists of 160 personnel from the Royal Cambodian Army, as confirmed by the defence ministry.

Training Focus

The exercise will emphasize company-level joint training for conducting operations in sub-conventional environments. Special skills training will be a key component, including drone operations, mortar tactics, and sniper techniques. These training modules are designed to enhance the capabilities of both contingents in modern warfare scenarios.

Primary Objective

The main goal of CINBAX-II is to improve interoperability, coordination, and operational synergy between the Indian and Cambodian armed forces. The joint exercise aligns with current counter-terrorism dynamics and will also prepare troops for United Nations peacekeeping missions. This collaboration underscores the growing defence partnership between India and Cambodia.
