Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Police athletes delivered an impressive performance at various national-level All India Police competitions, securing a total of 39 medals across badminton, table tennis, weightlifting, yoga, judo and police duty events, bringing laurels to the state.
Badminton and Table Tennis Achievements
At the 2nd All India Police Badminton Cluster 2025-26, organised by Uttar Pradesh Police in Lucknow from May 9 to 13, the AP Police contingent won 10 medals, including 2 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze medals. The tally comprised four bronze medals in table tennis and six medals in badminton, including two golds, two silvers and two bronzes.
Weightlifting and Yoga Success
In the 3rd All India Police Weightlifting Cluster 2026-27, hosted by Haryana Police at Madhuban from May 23 to 27, AP Police athletes claimed 17 medals, including 4 gold, 12 silver and 1 bronze. Notably, all the medals were won in the yoga category.
Police Duty Meet and Judo Cluster
The AP Police team also excelled at the National Police Duty Meet held in Nagpur between March 29 and April 3, securing four silver medals. In the All India Police Judo Cluster held in Jammu & Kashmir, AP Police athletes added eight medals to their tally, winning 2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals in events including taekwondo, karate and pencak silat.
DGP Congratulates Athletes
Following their achievements, the medal winners met director general of police Harish Kumar Gupta at the AP Police Headquarters in Mangalagiri on Tuesday. Congratulating the athletes, the DGP lauded their efforts in enhancing the prestige of Andhra Pradesh Police at the national level.
He encouraged them to continue their winning momentum in future national and international competitions and assured full support from the department to promote a strong sporting culture among police personnel. He said the achievements would inspire young police officers and staff across the state.
