YSRCP Launches Statewide Agitation, Plans 'Chalo Delhi' Over Dalit Leader's Murder
The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has declared plans for an intensified statewide and national-level agitation following the brutal murder of Dalit leader Manda Salman. The party will soon initiate a "Chalo Delhi" programme to demand justice and hold the ruling coalition government accountable for what they term as systematic failures in protecting marginalized communities.
Memorial Meeting in Pinnelli Sparks Political Confrontation
At a memorial gathering held in Pinnelli, YSRCP state leaders paid heartfelt tributes to Salman and visited his bereaved family to express solidarity. They assured the family of continued political and legal support throughout their fight for justice. Addressing the emotional gathering, party leaders launched scathing attacks on the ruling coalition, alleging that since assuming power, the government has consistently failed to protect Dalits and has instead permitted targeted violence against YSRCP supporters, particularly in the Palnadu district.
Allegations of Government Complicity and Systematic Violence
YSRCP leaders accused the ruling dispensation of resorting to political violence and intimidation tactics due to their inability to gain public support through genuine development initiatives. Former legislator Kasu Mahesh Reddy strongly criticized Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, alleging that Dalit lives hold no value in his political calculations. Reddy described the recent attack on Dr BR Ambedkar's statue as a shameful beginning to a series of assaults on Dalits and democratic voices across the state.
According to YSRCP leaders, Salman's murder represents a direct consequence of government negligence and police failure. They made serious allegations that law enforcement agencies acted in collusion with anti-social elements, enabling the violence to escalate unchecked in Palnadu region.
Demands for Independent Probe and National Intervention
Mahesh Reddy demanded an independent judicial probe into Salman's murder and announced that formal complaints would be lodged with both the National Human Rights Commission and the National Commission for Scheduled Castes. He insisted on strict disciplinary action against police officials responsible for lapses in maintaining law and order during the incident.
Several speakers highlighted the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Palnadu, where hundreds of families have reportedly been forced to flee their villages due to fear and intimidation. YSRCP leaders termed this situation a blot on democratic governance and a failure of constitutional protections for vulnerable communities.
National-Level Political Strategy and Peace Appeals
YSRCP leaders emphasized that the party would raise this critical issue both in Parliament sessions and at the national political level, warning the coalition government that suppression and violence would only strengthen public opposition against their administration. They particularly praised the restraint and maturity shown by Salman's family, who appealed for peace in their village despite their immense personal loss.
The party leadership stated that this peace appeal from the victim's family should be respected through immediate restoration of normalcy and enhanced safety measures in affected areas. Prominent leaders including Tirupati MP Maddila Gurumoorthy, former MPs, former ministers, former MLAs, and district-level party representatives participated in the memorial program, demonstrating unified political resolve behind the agitation.
The YSRCP has vowed to continue their political fight until the guilty are punished and complete justice is delivered to Salman's family, marking this incident as a turning point in their opposition strategy against the ruling coalition.
