Actor-Politician Vijay Set to File Nomination Papers for Trichy East Assembly Segment
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and prominent actor-politician Vijay is scheduled to file his nomination papers to contest in the Trichy East Assembly segment on April 2, according to party sources. The nomination submission is expected to take place at approximately 12:30 PM before the constituency's returning officer, Muthu Murugesa Pandiyan, at the Ariyamangalam zonal office of the Trichy corporation.
Campaign Strategy Finalized with Two Key Locations
Following the nomination filing, Vijay is likely to campaign from his vehicle at two different locations within Trichy city. One spot has been confirmed at the Marakkadai junction, where the actor-politician initiated his election campaign last year. The party is also considering a second campaign location, potentially near Trichy airport, with areas such as KK Nagar and Wireless Road under discussion.
TVK's chief coordinator K A Sengottaiyan, Lalgudi TVK candidate and former minister Ku Pa Krishnan, and Trichy East constituency TVK in-charge Kudamurutti Karikalan approached Trichy city police and election department officials on Tuesday to secure necessary permissions for these campaign activities.
Logistical Challenges and Planning Adjustments
Party sources revealed that initial plans included eight different campaign locations for Vijay, which were subsequently narrowed down to two due to logistical considerations. "We have requested our leader's campaign at Lalgudi constituency too, but travelling on road from Trichy city amid fans and cadres is a big challenge," Krishnan told TOI. The final campaign locations and timings are expected to be confirmed by Wednesday.
After filing his nomination, Vijay is anticipated to proceed directly to the Marakkadai junction MGR statue for his first campaign event. This strategic approach aims to maximize visibility and engagement with supporters while managing the complexities of election season logistics.
