UPSRTC Launches Major Recruitment Drive for Drivers and Conductors

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is set to initiate a significant recruitment drive by the end of this month, aiming to fill over 6,600 positions to bolster its workforce and improve bus services across the state.

Recruitment Details and Contract Terms

According to official announcements, UPSRTC will recruit a total of 3,060 drivers and 3,614 conductors. The drivers will be hired on a contract basis, while the conductors will be outsourced through third-party agencies. This strategic move is part of the corporation's efforts to address staffing shortages and enhance operational efficiency.

The recruitment process is currently underway, with applications expected to open soon. This initiative marks one of the largest hiring campaigns by UPSRTC in recent years, targeting key roles essential for daily bus operations.

Minister's Review and Budget Allocation

Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh emphasized the importance of this recruitment during a review meeting of the corporation held on Tuesday. He stated that the addition of new drivers and conductors will significantly improve bus operations throughout Uttar Pradesh, leading to better service reliability and passenger satisfaction.

In the same meeting, Minister Singh directed officials to expedite the procurement of new buses and ensure that the allocated budget is utilized effectively for this purpose. He highlighted the need to modernize the fleet to complement the increased workforce, aiming for a comprehensive upgrade of the state's public transport system.

Expected Impact on State Transport

The recruitment drive is anticipated to have a positive impact on several fronts:

  • Enhanced Service Frequency: With more drivers and conductors, UPSRTC can operate more buses on existing routes, reducing wait times for passengers.
  • Job Creation: This initiative will provide employment opportunities for thousands of individuals, contributing to the state's economy.
  • Improved Safety and Efficiency: Adequate staffing levels are expected to lead to smoother operations and better adherence to safety protocols.

As UPSRTC moves forward with this recruitment, stakeholders are optimistic about a revitalized public transport network in Uttar Pradesh, aligning with broader goals of sustainable urban mobility.
