UP Transforms from BIMARU to Breakthrough State, Says CM Yogi Adityanath

In a significant declaration, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asserted on Tuesday that the state has completely shed its outdated BIMARU tag and has now emerged as a breakthrough state in India's development landscape. The CM made these remarks while addressing a public gathering in Gorakhpur after inaugurating two major infrastructure projects.

Casteist and Dynastic Forces Unable to Accept UP's New Identity

CM Yogi Adityanath pointed out that certain casteist and dynastic forces are finding it difficult to come to terms with Uttar Pradesh's remarkable transformation and its new progressive identity. He alleged that these very elements were previously responsible for patronising riots and disorder across the state, creating an atmosphere of fear and instability.

"Those who thrived on chaos and unrest are deeply troubled today because their very livelihood has been severely hit," stated the Chief Minister. He issued a stern warning that any future attempts to create disorder or disrupt peace in the state would be dealt with firmly and decisively by the administration.

Inauguration of Key Infrastructure Projects in Gorakhpur

The Chief Minister inaugurated two crucial infrastructure developments aimed at boosting connectivity and easing traffic congestion in the region:

  • Khajanchi Chauraha Flyover: Constructed at a cost of Rs 96.5 crore, this 605-metre-long flyover connects Jail Bypass with Sports College Road. It is designed to ensure smoother traffic flow towards the Fertiliser Factory and Sonauli Road, significantly reducing travel time for commuters.
  • Bargadwa–Nakaha Rail Overbridge (ROB): Built with an investment of Rs 152.19 crore, this 1,092-metre-long ROB will alleviate chronic congestion at the level crossing. It promises to improve connectivity to Gorakhpur's northern areas and enhance access to Maharajganj, facilitating better regional integration.

The total investment for these two projects stands at an impressive Rs 248.69 crore, underscoring the government's commitment to infrastructural advancement.

From 'Uproar State' to 'Festival State': A Remarkable Transformation

Recalling the pre-2017 era, CM Yogi Adityanath described Uttar Pradesh as a state plagued by fear, riots, and pervasive insecurity. During that period, neither daughters nor traders felt safe, and the future of the youth was jeopardised by divisive politics.

"Those responsible played the politics of caste and family, putting the state's progress and the aspirations of its young population at risk," he remarked. The CM credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for steering Uttar Pradesh towards a new path focused on solutions, holistic development, and robust security.

He emphasised that the state has now transformed from an "uproar state" into a "festival state," where strong law and order have forced rioters and disruptive elements into hiding. This improved security environment, coupled with enhanced infrastructure, has triggered an unprecedented investment boom in Uttar Pradesh.

Investment Boom and Gorakhpur's Development Makeover

The Chief Minister highlighted that the improved security and infrastructure landscape has attracted investment proposals worth a staggering Rs 45 lakh crore to the state. These proposals hold the promise of generating employment for approximately 1.5 crore youths, providing a massive boost to the state's economy and job market.

Focusing on Gorakhpur's own transformation, CM Yogi Adityanath noted that the city is now recognised for its modern amenities and development projects rather than its past associations. "Gorakhpur is now known for its four-lane roads, expressway links, the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIIDA), a state-of-the-art fertiliser plant, and the prestigious AIIMS," he stated. This marks a significant shift from its previous reputation, which was often linked to issues like mafia activities, mosquito-borne diseases, and encephalitis outbreaks.

The inauguration of these projects and the CM's address underscore the Uttar Pradesh government's continued focus on infrastructure-led growth, improved governance, and creating a secure environment conducive to investment and public welfare.
