Yogi Government Launches Statewide Ambedkar Jayanti Outreach Program

In a significant move to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has initiated a comprehensive public outreach program. Public representatives across the state will engage with citizens to disseminate information about their constitutional rights, the values of equality, and the principles of social justice enshrined in the Constitution.

Statewide Awareness Campaign

The primary event marking this occasion will be held at the Ambedkar Mahasabha in Hazratganj, Lucknow. Presided over by Mahasabha Trust President and MLC Lalji Prasad Nirmal, the program will commence with Buddhist monks offering floral tributes to Baba Saheb’s urn, followed by Buddha Vandana. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will then pay homage to Dr. Ambedkar.

The core objective of this initiative is to ensure that Ambedkar's ideals of equality, social justice, and democratic values permeate every stratum of society. To achieve this, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and other Bharatiya Janata Party public representatives will undertake visits to people in every district of Uttar Pradesh. Their mission is to raise awareness about constitutional rights and duties, thereby fostering greater societal consciousness and strengthening the democratic framework.

Historic Announcements and Community Enthusiasm

Ahead of Ambedkar Jayanti, the Yogi government made a pivotal announcement that has generated considerable excitement. The Chief Minister declared that canopies will be installed over statues of Baba Saheb throughout the state, accompanied by the construction of boundary walls and extensive beautification efforts.

Lalji Prasad Nirmal hailed this decision as historic, noting that it has sparked immense enthusiasm among the Dalit community and followers of Ambedkar. This move underscores the government's commitment to honoring the legacy of social justice icons.

Educational and Institutional Programs

To engage the younger generation, a series of programs will be organized in universities, colleges, schools, and social institutions across all districts of Uttar Pradesh. These activities will include seminars, speeches, essay competitions, and debates designed to acquaint students with Baba Saheb’s contributions and struggles.

On April 14, the entire state will be immersed in an "Ambedkarmaya" atmosphere, with events planned in all offices, schools, hostels, and institutions under the Social Welfare Department. Educational institutions will host special events such as garlanding of statues and portraits of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, alongside discussions on his life, teachings, and pivotal role in drafting the Constitution.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Murti Vikas Yojana

In a landmark decision, the state cabinet, chaired by CM Yogi, has approved the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Murti Vikas Yojana. This ambitious scheme allocates Rs 403 crore for the development and beautification of memorials and statues dedicated to great personalities of social justice in each assembly constituency of Uttar Pradesh.

Under this scheme, statues and memorials of revered figures including Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Sant Ravidas, Kabir, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Maharshi Valmiki, and other luminaries will be conserved, beautified, and enhanced with necessary infrastructure. This initiative reflects the government's priority towards promoting social harmony and encouraging public participation in preserving India's rich heritage of social reform.
