A late-night journey back from a pilgrimage turned into a nightmare for a family in Rajasthan's Rajsamand district, resulting in the tragic death of a one-year-old girl and leaving four others, including her sister and the driver, critically injured.
Details of the Tragic Accident
The horrific incident occurred late on Wednesday night near Amet. According to Station House Officer Om Singh Chundawat of Amet police station, the victims were returning to Railmagra in Rajsamand after visiting the famous Khatu Shyam ji temple. The car, carrying a family of four and their driver, suddenly overturned on the road.
The vehicle caught fire within seconds of overturning, leaving the occupants with virtually no time to escape the blazing wreckage. The passengers have been identified as Vikas Jain (32), his wife Rajeshwari Jain, their two daughters Dhanishtha (4) and Pranidhi (1), and the driver, Kaluram.
Heroic Rescue Attempt by Locals
Alerted by the crash and the ensuing fire, local residents rushed to the spot and attempted a daring rescue. They managed to pull all the occupants from the burning car. However, the situation was dire. Local witnesses stated that the family was so badly trapped in the mangled vehicle that the extraction process took nearly an hour.
Tragically, the youngest passenger, one-year-old Pranidhi Jain, succumbed to severe burns before she could be pulled out from the wreckage. She was declared dead at the scene. The four survivors—Vikas, Rajeshwari, Dhanishtha, and driver Kaluram—were all rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
Critical Condition of Survivors
The aftermath of the accident remains grave for the injured. Police confirmed that the condition of the four-year-old daughter, Dhanishtha, and the driver, Kaluram, is reported to be critical. The parents, Vikas and Rajeshwari Jain, also sustained serious injuries in the devastating car fire accident in Rajsamand.
The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest the car overturned, leading to an immediate fuel leak and fire, which engulfed the vehicle rapidly. This tragic event highlights the extreme dangers of road travel, especially on highways at night, and the devastating speed at which a routine journey can turn fatal.
