A sudden leopard attack in a village field left two people injured in Rajasthan's Sikar district on Sunday, highlighting the growing instances of human-wildlife conflict in the region.
Attack During Field Work
The incident occurred in Banai village, which falls under the Laxmangarh sub-division of Sikar district. The two injured individuals, identified as Bhagirath Jat and Muknaram Meghwal, were engaged in agricultural work at the time.
According to Jat's account, they were in the process of changing irrigation lines in the field when the leopard launched its surprise assault. The big cat first attacked Jat, causing injuries, before fleeing the scene upon hearing the commotion and the arrival of other villagers.
Response and Rescue Efforts
Local residents quickly rushed to the spot after hearing the cries. Both injured men were promptly taken to the district hospital in Laxmangarh for medical treatment.
Officials from the forest department were alerted and a team arrived at the village to assess the situation. Ranger Durga Devi confirmed that active efforts are now underway to track and capture the leopard to prevent further attacks.

This attack underscores a persistent challenge in several parts of Rajasthan, where leopard habitats increasingly overlap with human settlements and agricultural land. Such encounters often result in casualties and create fear among local communities.
