Vijay's TVK Stands Firm Against BJP and AIADMK Alliance Rumors

Amid swirling rumors that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is making another attempt to bring actor-politician Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) into the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), sources close to Vijay have told The Times of India that there has been no change in his stand on not forming an alliance with either the BJP or the AIADMK. This development comes as TVK intensifies its election preparedness, with Vijay set to interview shortlisted candidates.

TVK Leaders Dismiss Speculation and Reaffirm Stance

Two senior TVK leaders have confirmed that while several parties, including the AIADMK, have contacted them earlier, their position remains unwavering. "We declared BJP as our ideological enemy and DMK as our political rival. There is no change in that," said a TVK functionary, emphasizing the party's commitment to its core principles. TVK election campaign secretary Aadhav Arjuna has dismissed reports of Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan reaching out to Vijay as mere speculation, though he acknowledged their long-standing cordial relationship.

BJP and NDA Rumors Addressed

BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran addressed the media in Thanjavur, stating that his party is not in talks with TVK, as Vijay has publicly announced that his party will go it alone in the upcoming elections. He also dismissed rumors that the NDA had offered the deputy chief minister post to Vijay, labeling such claims as baseless. This clarification underscores the political tensions in Tamil Nadu, where alliances are a critical factor in electoral dynamics.

TVK's Election Preparedness and Candidate Selection

Meanwhile, TVK is actively stepping up its election preparedness. Vijay is expected to interview the first set of 25 shortlisted candidate aspirants on Tuesday. Key figures likely to attend include:

  • Aadhav Arjuna, who may contest from Villivakkam
  • General secretary N Anand for T Nagar
  • Propaganda secretary Arun Raj for Tiruchengode
This move signals TVK's serious intent to establish itself as a formidable force in Tamil Nadu politics, independent of major alliances.

Background on Vijay and Pawan Kalyan's Relationship

Party sources revealed that Vijay and Pawan Kalyan have been in contact since Vijay's early years in the film industry and continue to maintain a cordial relationship. Pawan Kalyan was among the first leaders to greet Vijay when TVK was launched, and Vijay congratulated him on his electoral success in 2024. However, a TVK leader cautioned, "They talking to each other does not mean alliance talks. Such narratives are being pushed to stunt TVK's growth," highlighting the strategic challenges faced by new political entrants.
