South Western Railway Launches New Daycare Facility for Staff Children in Mysuru
In a significant move to enhance employee welfare, the South Western Railway has inaugurated a new daycare and creche facility at its Mysuru Divisional Office premises. The facility was officially opened by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mudit Mittal on Monday, marking a key step in supporting railway employees, particularly working parents.
A Safe and Nurturing Environment for Children
The newly established creche is designed to provide a secure and nurturing space for children during working hours. This initiative aims to help employees manage their professional duties with greater ease by alleviating childcare concerns. The facility includes child-friendly amenities and is equipped with CCTV surveillance to ensure safety and transparency for parents.
Leadership Emphasizes Work-Life Balance
At the inauguration ceremony, DRM Mudit Mittal urged staff members to fully utilize the new daycare service. He emphasized that such welfare measures are essential for improving work-life balance among railway employees. Supporting employees and their families remains a top priority for the railway administration, Mittal added, highlighting the organization's commitment to employee well-being.
Positive Response from Employees
Employees have welcomed the initiative, noting that it significantly reduces the stress associated with arranging childcare. Many previously relied on domestic help or relatives, but the new creche offers a reliable and well-equipped alternative right on the office premises. This convenience is expected to boost productivity and job satisfaction among staff.
Medical Officer Shares Personal Experience
Dr. Garima, the divisional medical officer at the Railway Hospital in Mysuru Division, whose child is enrolled at the centre, expressed strong support for the move. She stated that the child-friendly environment and access to CCTV footage provide parents with reassurance about their children's safety. The creche represents a dependable solution for working parents within the railway community, she remarked.
Current Enrollment and Future Impact
Approximately 15 children have been enrolled in the daycare facility so far, with expectations for this number to grow as more employees become aware of the service. The initiative is part of broader efforts by South Western Railway to foster a supportive work environment and address the practical needs of its workforce. By integrating childcare support into the workplace, the railway aims to enhance employee retention and overall operational efficiency.
